BACKGROUND: The City of Paris was awarded a $150,000 Texas Capital Fund grant which
included an additional $45,000 match from the City, for a total grant amount of $195,000. This
project replaced broken sidewalks on both sides of S. Main Street between Clarksville and
Kaufman Streets, the south side of Lamar Avenue between 1st and Church Streets and the east
side of NW 1st Street between Bonham and Houston Streets. The City Council awarded a
contract to SimWick Contractors at the October 13, 2014 meeting in the amount of $122,183.89.
Change Order #1 was approved on January 12, 2015 to bring the contract amount up to
$135,141.89
STATUS OF ISSUE: This change order is for $50.86 and is because of a line item overrun. No
additional time is proposed to be added to the project. The new construction contract amount
would be $135,192.75 if approved. The overall project cost comes to $194,981.13 and the final
payment due to SimWick is $15,149.17.
BUDGET: This project was funded from the $150,000 Texas Capital Fund Grant and $45,000
from the 2014 -2015 City of Paris budget. The budget for the project is $195,000.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve change order #2 and close out the 2014 Texas Capital Fund
sidewalk replacement project with SimWick General Contractors, LLC.
