SUBJECT: COMPLETION OF THE TEXAS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT FOR DISASTER RELIEF
DATE: June 7, 2015
BACKGROUND: On December 6, 2013, the City of Paris was hit by an ice storm severely
damaging trees, powers lines and homes. As a result of this storm, damage was estimated in
hundreds of thousands of dollars. The City contracted with TNT Disaster for collection of brush
and tree debris on city streets, alleys and rights -of -way.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Subsequently, the City made application for a disaster relief grant through
the Texas Department of Agriculture and was awarded $350,000. Part of the requirement to
closeout this grant is to conduct a public hearing.
BUDGET: Reimbursement of $350,000 to the City.
RECOMMENDATION: Conduct a public hearing.
