Item No. 10 <br />memorandum <br />TO: City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Shawn Napier, P.E., Director of Engineering, Planning & Development <br />SUBJECT: 2013 DOWNTOWN SIDEWALK REPLACMENT PROJECT - TEXAS <br />CAPITAL FUND CONTRACT NO. 713272 PUBLIC HEARING <br />DATE: July 8, 2015 <br />BACKGROUND: The City of Paris was awarded a $150,000 Texas Capital Fund grant which <br />included an additional $45,000 match from the City, for a total grant amount of $195,000. This <br />project replaced broken sidewalks on both sides of S. Main Street between Clarksville and <br />Kaufman Streets, the south side of Lamar Avenue between 1 st and Church Streets and the east <br />side of NW 1st Street between Bonham and Houston Streets. The City Council awarded a <br />contract to SimWick Contractors at the October 13, 2014 meeting in the amount of $122,183.89. <br />change order #1 was approved on January 12, 2015 to bring the contract amount up to <br />$135,141.89. The 2nd change order ($50.86) and contract closeout was approved by City Council <br />on May 11th, 2015. The final contract amount was $194,981.13. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: This public hearing will officially close out the project with the State of <br />Texas and allow the City of Paris to apply for another grant in October. <br />BUDGET: This project was funded from the $150,000 Texas Capital Fund Grant and $45,000 <br />from the 2014 -2015 City of Paris budget. The budget for the project is $195,000. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Conduct a public hearing to receive public comment regarding the <br />completion of the 2013 Texas Capital Fund Main Street Sidewalk Replacement Project. <br />
