Traffic Commission
City of Paris
The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday July 07, 2015 at 5:15 P.M. in the
Municipal Courtroom with the following members present:

The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle.
Councilman Aaron Jenkins was present as council liaison.
Mr. Shiver called the meeting to order at 5:15pm. A quorum was established with
five members present.
Mr. Shiver then moved to item #2 regarding introduction of new Traffic
Commission members. Mr. Tuttle introduced Wendell Moore as the newest
member and Susan Hamby returning to serve another term with both of their
terms ending June 30, 2018.
Mr. Shiver moved to item #3 regarding the discussion and possible action
concerning election of Traffic Commission Chairperson. Mr. Shiver asked for
nominations and Mr. Engelhardt nominated Barry Shiver to continue as
Chairperson. There were no other nominations. Mr. Shiver asked for a motion
and Mr. Engelhardt made a motion to elect Mr. Shiver as Chairperson with a
second from Mr. Ballard. Motion carried 4-0 with Mr. Shiver abstaining.
Mr. Shiver then moved to Item #4 regarding the discussion and possible action
concerning the election of Traffic Commission Vice-Chairperson. Mr. Shiver
asked for and nominated Mr. Ballard for Vice-Chairperson. There were no other
nominations. Mr. Shiver then made a motion to elect Mr. Ballard as Vice-
Chairperson with a second from Mr. Engelhardt. Motion carried 4-0 with Mr.
Ballard abstaining.
Mr. Shiver then moved to item #5 concerning the approval of minutes from the
May 05, 2015 meeting. Mr. Sanders made a motion to approve minutes with a
second from Mr. Shiver. Motion carried 5-0.
Mr. Shiver then moved to item #6 concerning any old business. Mr. Tuttle
informed members that the street sign at Park Place and NE Loop 286 had been
replaced. Mr. Tuttle also informed members that the City Council passed a
resolution at the June 08, 2015 meeting approving the TXDOT recommendation
to close intersections of FM 1497 and 6th SE at Loop 286 along with extending
the four lane east and installing turnarounds as suggested by Traffic
Commission.
Mr. Shiver then moved to item #7 concerning future agenda items. Mr.
Engelhardt had an issue about the ramp on Trail de Paris at the 24th SE St.
crossing. Mr. Engelhardt was concerned that the ramp from the trail onto 24 th
was too narrow and may need to be widened. Mr. Tuttle stated he would forward
this to the Public Works Director.
Mr. Shiver then moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:35pm. A motion was made by
Mr. Ballard and second by Mr. Shiver with motion carrying 5-0.
