Hashmi Date: 8 -5 -2015 City of Paris Revised 05/12/2015 Wastewater Treatment Plant The issue of building a new waste water treatment plant has been brought up a number of times and there are diverse opinions, with some people feeling that there is a need for it and others feeling that there isn't a need for it. For the city of Paris, it is means undertaking a huge expense and taxes may actually need to be raised to afford to build this plant. One wants to be 100 % sure that there is a need for a new sewer treatment plant, where it needs to be placed, and what specs would be needed. None of us on the council are experts in this area. We certainly do rely on the city employees who have done a great job at maintaining this plant for a long period of time, but at this time I would propose that we get an independent opinion to come forward and judge the status of our plant and its requirements. This opinion should not come from the people who are in the business of replacement and development of new plants since that opinion will be biased, but should come from an independent engineering source where they are not a party to having or not having a new plant. I would make a motion to proceed with hiring an engineering firm to do this.
