SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE
AND ASSOCIATE MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE
DATE: September 3, 2015
BACKGROUND: Section 27 of the Paris City Charter states the City Council shall appoint a
duly licensed attorney to serve as city judge for a term of two years.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Judge Hunt has served as Municipal Court Judge since October 1985, and
Judge Biard has served as Associate Municipal Court Judge since July 2013. The current terms
for both judges will end September 30, 2015. The new term will begin October 1, 2015 and end
September 30, 2017.
BUDGET: No impact to the budget.
RECOMMENDATION: Re- appoint Judge Hunt to serve as Municipal Court Judge and Judge
Biard to serve as Associate Municipal Court Judge.
