SUBJECT: SALE OF CITY PROPERTY

BACKGROUND: The City Council directed the City staff to auction off City property located
at 811 Bonham Street (old Police building) and 616 W. Washington (old Health Department
building). The Health Department building is jointly owned by the City and County. The County
is agreeable to the sale of the property. Rene Bates Auctioneers was contacted about the
information necessary to auction the property.
STATUS OF ISSUE: City staff has produced the required contracts for sale, produced an aerial
map, and has contracted with Chaney Engineering to obtain an updated survey showing all
easements and improvements on the property. The expected delivery date on the survey is
October 12th. The survey will allow us to update the legal descriptions as well. Deeds for the
properties have also been located. It is also our intent to publish a notice in the local paper
directing interested buyers to the online auction website at the appropriate time. We expect to
start the auction sometime in October and have end in November. Online property auctions
normally run for a month, but that time period can be shortened if the Council wishes.
BUDGET: Not affected by this report.
