09/09/2015 MINUTESMEETING MINUTES CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS 107 EAST KAUFMAN PARIS, TEXAS WEDNESDAY, September 9, 2015 4:00 P.M. 1. Call meeting to order and roll call. Quorum present: Commissioner Ruth Ann Alsobrook was absent. Guests: Mrs. LaLonna West, Melissa Pool, and City Manager John Godwin. 2. Approval of minutes from previous meeting (JULY 8, 2015) Commissioner Sarah Barbee made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Commissioner Phillip Peeples second, Motion Carried 5 -0 3. Presentation on Courthouse Signage, Councilman Benny Plata Cheri Bedford (HPO) informed the members that Councilman Plata removed this item from the agenda prior to the meeting. 4. Consideration of and action on the following Tax Exemption Agreement: A. 123 Clarksville St, Lalonna West Lalonna West thanked the commission for their support of herproject /. She has completed her renovations to the Historic property, and requested a tax Exemption for the rehabilitation of Historic Structure pursuant to Ordinance No. 2004. Commissioner Phillip Peeples made the motion to approve; Commissioner Chris Dux seconded Motion Carried 5 -0 5. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: A. 120 Clarksville, Parisian Class with Southern Sass- Jennifer Lassiter Melissa Pool( applicant's Aunt) presented the request in due to applicant being out of town. A motion was made to approve the Certificate ofAppropriateness aspresented by Commissioner Phillip Peeples, Seconded by Commissioner Chris Dux, Motion Carried 5 -0 6. Future Agenda Item Cheri Bedford (Historic Preservation Officer) informed the commission of a visit and training to be held at the next regularly scheduled meeting, October 14, 2015, Kristen Brown, Certified Local Government Coordinator from the Texas Historical Commission will facilitate. Meeting will take 1.5 hours. Commissioner Allcorn requested a list of all members of the commission be given to the HPC board at the next meeting. 7. Adjournment Following the regular meeting, the Historic Preservation Commission will go directly to The Loft at 123 (located at 123 Clarksville ST. downtown Paris) to take a picture of the Commission presenting Mrs. LaLonna West with a the Fagade Grant. With no other matters to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Chris Dux and seconded by Commissioner Phillip Peeples. The motion carried 5 -0. Meeting adjourned at 4:37 p.m. Members all visited The LOFT at 123 for a picture of the commission presenting Mrs. West with the Fagade Grant for $2,500.
