SUBJECT: PARIS TRANSIT

BACKGROUND: As we have discussed previously, the area COG and United Way have been
working together to get a much - needed, fixed -route transit system in Paris, hopefully to begin
operation in the spring. United Way's April Carl addressed the council on January 24, as did
representatives of the COG.
STATUS OF ISSUE: The city has agreed to provide shelter construction assistance and to
manufacture and install route signage. Mr. Pickle has recommended that the city also provide
additional financial assistance in the amount of $25,000 to complete the required local grant
match ofjust over $100,000, much of which has already been pledged.
BUDGET: Funding is not budgeted.
RECOMMENDATION: Provide requested financial assistance.
