Item No. 16 <br />memorandum <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: John Godwin, City Manager <br />SUBJECT: COX FIELD GROUND LEASE <br />DATE: February 1, 2016 <br />BACKGROUND: For the last few months I have worked with the airport advisory board to <br />revise, modernize, and streamline the existing base ground lease document. This lease is used to <br />provide spaces at Cox Field for construction of privately owned and operated aircraft hangars. <br />The board reviewed a draft in December, and adopted a final version prepared and recommended <br />by city staff at its January meeting. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: The attached ground lease for hangar construction, use, and maintenance <br />is shorter than the older version, yet contains additional restrictions to help ensure appropriate <br />airport related uses and proper levels of maintenance. This new document is wholly consistent <br />with the new lease policy adopted by the council in October, and is unanimously recommended <br />for approval by the airport advisory board. <br />BUDGET: NA. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve new ground lease document. <br />
