Item No. 15 <br />memorandum <br />TO: City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: CHANGE FOR MEETING DATE IN MAY <br />DATE: March 23, 2016 <br />BACKGROUND: Texas Election Code Section 67.003(a) requires the canvass of the City's <br />General Election be conducted between May 10 and May 18, 2016. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: May 9 and May 23 are regular scheduled meeting dates. City staff <br />proposes rescheduling the meeting date of May 9 to May 16. Changing the meeting date will <br />allow for canvass of the general election, which falls within the time period prescribed by the <br />State for canvassing the election. <br />BUDGET: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve change for the first meeting date in May from May 9 to May <br />16. <br />
