SUBJECT: CHANGE FOR MEETING DATE IN MAY
DATE: March 23, 2016
BACKGROUND: Texas Election Code Section 67.003(a) requires the canvass of the City's
General Election be conducted between May 10 and May 18, 2016.
STATUS OF ISSUE: May 9 and May 23 are regular scheduled meeting dates. City staff
proposes rescheduling the meeting date of May 9 to May 16. Changing the meeting date will
allow for canvass of the general election, which falls within the time period prescribed by the
State for canvassing the election.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Approve change for the first meeting date in May from May 9 to May
16.
