SUBJECT: CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION, STATEMENT OF ELECTED OFFICER
AND OATH OF OFFICE

BACKGROUND: On March 2, 2016, the City Clerk issued a certificate of unopposed candidates
for Districts 1, 2, and 3, and by Ordinance Number 2016 -010, City Council declared Council
Members for Districts 1, 2, and 3 elected to office. On May 7, 2016, a general election was held
for the purpose of electing one Council Member to District 6.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Pursuant to State Law, a certificate of election shall be issued to each
candidate who is elected to office; each elected officer shall execute a statement of elected
officer; and each elected officer shall take the oath of office prior to taking office.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: An oath of office will be administered to each elected officer.
