A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS TEXAS IN SUPPORT OF DEDICATION OF A PORTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 82 FROM THE 4200 BLOCK OF LAMAR AVENUE IN THE CITY OF PARIS EASTWARD TO THE LAMAR COUNTY LINE AS THE "TROOPER JEFFREY NICHOLS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY." WHEREAS, Trooper Jeffrey Nichols served Lamar County for 4 years and 2 months as a Texas State Trooper; and WHEREAS, Trooper Jeffrey Nichols was killed in the line of duty on March 26, 2016 while serving the citizens of Lamar County; and WHEREAS, the City of Paris wishes to honor the sacrifice, service and memory of Trooper Jeffrey Nichols; and WHEREAS, Lamar County and the City of Reno have approved resolutions in favor of dedicating a portion of U.S. Highway 82 from the 4200 Block of Lamar Avenue in the City of Paris eastward to the Lamar County line as the "Trooper Jeffrey Nichols Memorial Highway;" and WHEREAS, the City of Paris wishes to support the dedication of the portion of U.S. Highway 82 from the 4200 Block of Lamar Avenue eastward to the Lamar County line as the "Trooper Jeffrey Nichols Memorial Highway;" NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. The City of Paris wishes to support the dedication of the portion of U.S. Highway 82 from the 4200 Block of Lamar Avenue eastward to the Lamar County line as the "Trooper Jeffrey Nichols Memorial Highway." Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage. PASSED AND APPROVED this 16th day of May, 2016. A.J.
