2016-014 - CAMPING AT LAKE CROOKORDINANCE NO. 2016 -014
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
AMENDING ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 23, "CITY LAKES", OF THE PARIS CODE
OF ORDINANCES, BY AMENDING SECTION 23.28, CAMPING, AS
HERETOFORE AMENDED; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on February 22, 2016 the City Council of the City of Paris appointed a
citizens' committee to provide advice related to making improvements to the park area at
Lake Crook; and
WHEREAS, said citizens' committee reported back to the City Council at its regular
meeting on April 11, 2016; and
WHEREAS, one of the recommendations of the citizens' committee was to allow
overnight camping at Lake Crook by permit in designated areas; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approves of said recommendations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the existing Section 23.28, CAMPING, of Chapter 23, "City Lakes ",
of the Paris Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read in whole as follows:
"It shall be unlawful for any person to camp overnight on the premises of Lake
Crook or Lake Gibbons, except with a valid permit issued by the City of Paris, and
within those area(s) designated for that purpose."
Section 2. That Chapter 23 of the City of Paris Code of Ordinances shall remain in
full force and effect save and except as amended by this ordinance.
Section 3. That the sections, paragraphs, sentences, phrases, clauses and words
of this ordinance are severable, and if any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or
word in this ordinance or application thereof to any person, firm or corporation, or to any
circumstance is held invalid or unconstitutional by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such
holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City
Council hereby declares that it would have adopted such remaining portions of this
ordinance despite such invalidity, which remaining portions shall remain in full force and
effect.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon passage.
