MEETING MINUTES <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />107 EAST KAUFMAN <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />WEDNESDAY September 14, 2016 <br />Present: <br />Chris Dux - Chairman <br />Sarah Barbee- Vice Chair <br />Pat Conrad- Secretary <br />David Alarid <br />Skipper Steely <br />Linda Knox <br />City Staff: <br />Cheri Bedford, HPO <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />Absent <br />Matt Frierson, Council Liaison <br />Guests: <br />Kari and Josiah Daniel <br />Colton and Jana Sanders <br />1. Call meeting to order at 4:02 by Chairman Dux <br />2. Approval of minutes August 10, 2016 Motion to approve the meeting minutes of the August <br />10, 2016 meeting by David Alarid, and seconded by Skipper Steely. Motion Carried <br />3. Action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness <br />1. COA 2016 -40 111 Lamar Avenue, Green Boutique, Josiah and Kari Daniel <br />Back of the building improvements and freight entrance. <br />Josiah and Kari Daniel were available to present their improvements. The property owner <br />is improving the rear of their historic building and came to the commission because it is <br />visible from the street. They stated that they were told by a former commission that they <br />didn't need a Certificate of Appropriateness about rear improvements and had begun the <br />process. They informed the commission they had received approval for painting the rear of <br />the building where there was already existing paint. Their plans is to open a bricked in <br />freight entrance of the building and install a mahogany wooden freight door without <br />handles in the place of that opening. They also plan to remove a metal blanker panel <br />covering the windows over the exit doors in the back and restore the windows. The metal <br />entrance door will be replaced with a double wooden door. <br />A motion to approve the COA as presented made by Commissioner Pat Conrad, <br />seconded by Commissioner Linda Knox, motion carried. <br />2. COA 2016 — 41 -Lot 14, block, Lamar entrance of 7 E. Plaza, former Kress Building. <br />Removal of dilapidated materials, restoration of brick and mortar, fagade improvements. <br />Colton and Jana Sanders presented their Certificate of appropriateness for the removal of <br />dilapidated materials, restoration of brick and mortar, fagade improvement.
