MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 21, 2016 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Board of Adjustment meeting was called to order by David Hamilton, Chairman at <br />12: 00 p. m. <br />A. The following members were present: David Hamilton, Marilyn Smith, Louise <br />Hagood and Jerry Haning <br />B. The following members were absent: Deanna Manning <br />C. Also present was Ashley Fendley, City Staff; John Godwin, City Manager; <br />Stephanie Harris, City Attorney; Sue Lancaster, City Council; and Concerned <br />Citizens <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (May 31, 2016) <br />Motion was made by Louise Hagood, seconded by Marilyn Smith to approve minutes for <br />the May 31, 2016 meeting. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of Lamar Avenue Church of <br />Christ on all of Lot 1, City Block 314, being located at 3535 Lamar Avenue. <br />A. Section 28 -6 (a)(1) of the Sign Ordinance which provides that "Billboards shall be <br />permitted in areas zoned Light Industrial (LI) and Heavy Industrial (HI). A request <br />for a zoning change shall not be accepted solely for the purpose of installing a <br />billboard. No billboard shall be permitted in areas zoned as scenic or historic <br />overlay. " The applicant's property is zoned Commercial (C) and Single- Family <br />Dwelling District No. 2 (SF -2). <br />B. Section 28 -6 (d)(1) of the Sign Ordinance which provides that "No billboard shall <br />be permitted on any property that is located inside Loop 286 " The applicant's <br />property is located inside Loop 286 <br />C. Section 28 -6 (d)(2) of the Sign Ordinance which provides that "No billboard shall <br />be permitted within two thousand (2, 000) feet of another billboard to the closest <br />supporting pole of the proposed billboard. " The applicant's proposed billboard is <br />within two thousand (2, 000) feet of another billboard. <br />
