Item No. 12
In its true traditions, the idea of "Street of Dreams" is that of a luxury home and garden tour in
the United States.
Traditionally the mission is to serve the community by organizing and producing the most luxury
home tour imaginable by effectively showcasing our participants in their endeavors, of either
new homes or remodeling of homes.
Usually speaking, this is a summertime event showcasing newest trends and innovative ideas for
luxury home building, architecture, interior designing, and landscaping.
People are then invited for a tour of the "Street of Dreams" and encouraged to vote on each home
in categories of best design, best kitchen, and best landscape.
We in Paris are blessed with some beautiful old homes with a lot of history, particularly on some
streets. Unfortunately as time has gone by, these streets have deserted looks, with dilapidated
homes, unkempt yards and a lot of junk left on front yards of our homes.
It is sometimes easy to demolish these homes and move on, however it takes away from the
history of the street, the homes, their unique architecture, and the lives of so many important
people who lived in this town and contributed to its development and well- being.
What I want to present and organize today is a modified idea of "Street of Dreams."
Ladies and Gentlemen, the City is spending an enormous amount of money on infrastructure of
one of the streets in town, with new water and sewer lines, new sidewalks, and a newly paved
road. This happens to be one of the most travelled streets in town and the project is going well
and taking shape, and is expected to finish in the summer of 2017. The street that I am talking
about is Pine Bluff.
At one point in the history of Paris, this street was one of the prettiest streets in town with the
loveliest looking homes on it. Currently and unfortunately, it has an enormous number of homes
that have become either dilapidated or uninhabited or are just unkempt.
While the City spends this large amount of money on repairing the street, we as residents of the
community can possibly help by at least clearing up our yards and making our homes look better
without expending large amounts of money.
