Vicky Ballard entered the meeting at 4:1Opm. <br />P. 327 E Washington, City Block 146, Lot 15 <br />Owner: Jan O'Brien Dyke, 731 SE 3rd Paris, TX 75460 <br />Present: Jan O'Brien Dyke — owner, Michael Johnson — Renter, and Bruce Shupe <br />— overseer for Mrs. Dyke. Back taxes - $1614.14 <br />Mr. Talley stated that the property at 327 E Washington was brought before the <br />commission in August of 2012. The property owner was given 90 day to repair. A <br />permit was pulled but not enough work has been done. There are still dogs <br />living in the house, the roof is still collapsing, the foundation at the back of the <br />house is sinking into the ground and the windows are not boarded up. <br />Michael Johnson stated that he has replaced a window but it has been broken out <br />by vandals, he has a police report. He is going to try and make the walls more <br />stable before he can fix the roof. Bruce Shupe stated that his son -in -law is a <br />contractor and he is going to have him come and tell them the best way to <br />proceed. They have someone who is going to bring them the materials to fix up <br />the house. <br />Jan Dyke asked the Building and Standard Commission for 60 days to fix the <br />structure. <br />Robert Talley's recommendation: 30 days to demolish if not the City has the <br />right to demolish and apply a $1000 per day civil penalty. <br />The Building and Standard Commission granted a 60 extension stating that there <br />must be substantial repairs to the structure and that the property is to be brought <br />back to the BSC in exactly 60 days for review. <br />Motion was made by Johnny Norris, seconded by Wendell Moore to allow <br />Mrs. Dyke 60 days to have the property repaired. The property will be <br />brought back before the Building and Standards Commission in 60 days to <br />review the repairs. Motion carried unanimously. 6 -0 <br />Request was made by Robert Talley to move to item 3. M., 1204 Fitzhugh, <br />Fitzhugh Addition, Block 1, Lot 2 <br />M. 1204 Fitzhugh, Fitzhugh Addition, Block 1, Lot 2 <br />Owner: John Leonard Brown - deceased <br />Present: Debra Lewis. Back Taxes - $408.72 <br />Robert Talley showed pictures of deterioration on the roof, small holes above the <br />windows, rot and termite damage and the siding peeling away from the house. <br />Mrs. Lewis stated that when Mr. Brown passed away the house was inherited by <br />her mother. Her mother passed away in November of 2012 so she is now <br />responsible for the property. She agrees that the house needs to be demolished <br />but cannot afford to do it herself. <br />Mr. Talley stated that he and Mrs. Lewis have spoken and she has agreed to sign <br />the Right of Entry and Indemnification so that the City of Paris can demolish the <br />structure and she will set up a payment plan with the City because she wants to keep <br />the property. <br />
