Box 938 or 740S.W 6t4 Street <br />Faris, TaXas 75461 -0938 <br />Voice: 903 - 7854561 Fax 903 - 737 -9924* .: <br />zrrc�rcv part sCamarFieaIlk com <br />SIGNED MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />PARIS -LAMAR COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br />The Paris -Lamar County Board of Health held a regular meeting at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, <br />August 281h, 2012, at the Paris -Lamar County Health Department. <br />Board members in attendance included Dr. Rick Erickson, Dr. William George, Dr. Mark <br />Gibbons, Dr. Keith House, Mr. Lav Singh, Mr. Bill Strathern, and Ms. Kristi Martin. Others in <br />attendance included Dr. A. Hashmi, Mrs. Gina Prestridge, Mrs. Carla Rhodes, Ms. Cheryl Johnson, <br />Mrs. Nita Johnson, Mrs. Elishia Brothers, Mrs. Rebecca Sanders, Mrs. Carol Hill, and Miss Ella <br />Amis. Meeting called to order at 6:07 P.M. by Dr. Erickson. <br />Ms. Martin made the motion and was seconded by Dr. Gibbons that minutes of previous <br />meeting be approved with a correction that Mr. Bill Strathern was not in attendance at the July <br />24th 2012 meeting. <br />Mrs. Prestridge informed the board that she had been notified that Lamar County had 6 <br />confirmed cases of West Nile fever and 1 confirmed case of neuro- invasive West Nile, along <br />with 2 cases still pending confirmation from Austin, and 1 case pending from a local doctor and <br />1 case has been ruled out as being West Nile Virus. The neuro- invasive patient did pass. Mrs. <br />Prestridge also informed the board that we saw 982 patients under the Primary Health Care <br />Grant during 2011 and we have already seen 1,102 patients during the first 8 months of 2012. <br />The Paris -Lamar County Health Department has purchased the meningitis vaccine from a <br />private provider and we will be able to provide the shot to anyone, including people with <br />insurance, at a cost of $80.00 and we will be offering the flu vaccine at a low cost of $18.00 to <br />anyone ages 3 and up, but there will not be a charge for anyone with Medicare coverage. The <br />Paris -Lamar County Health Department has applied to be a provider for United Healthcare and <br />is also trying to complete the paperwork to accept Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. <br />Starting in September we will start seeing County Indigent Health Care patients. The Paris - <br />Lamar County Health Department recently received the award letters on all of our prior grants <br />and we received the same amount of funding as last year. Starting on October 1St, 2012, the <br />Paris -Lamar County Health Department will start working the same four 10 -hour workday <br />week as WIC is currently working. Mrs. Prestridge will be on call every Friday. Mrs. Prestridge <br />presented Ms. Martin with a copy of the Paris -Lamar County Health Department revenue <br />report. <br />Board of health minutes of regular meeting 2012 -06 -26 <br />
