Mr. Strathern reminded the board that the budget has been presented to the City of Paris
Council members and the Lamar County Commissioners Court. Mr. Strathern also stated that
we have a couple of problems. First problem is that people are still going to the hospital without
any representation from the Paris -Lamar County Board of Health members. We need to elect
someone to represent the Paris -Lamar County Board of Health. Second problem is we need to
be getting bids from contractor so we know what the cost would be and also so we could be
ready to start if the budget gets approval. Also, we need to get bids for the hospital as well as
the 41h and West Sherman building. Dr. Erickson suggested that we need to get some estimates
on both buildings. Dr. Erickson said that we need to get more information about the renovation
cost and the contract. Dr. Erickson will get with the hospital and get some information and
bring it back to the board to discuss. Mr. Strathern made the motion and Dr. Singh second the
motion that Mrs. Prestridge should contact contractor Bobby Smallwood and get a bid and that
Dr. Erickson will be the representative for the Paris -Lamar County Board of Health and will
speak with Mr. Bill Porter at the hospital and address the length of the contract.
Mrs. Prestridge advised the board of the posting of the job description for a Family Nurse
Practitioner opening.
Mrs. Prestridge asked the board to approve the posting of job descriptions for a Registered
Sanitarian or a Sanitarian -in- Training opening. The Sanitarian -in- Training job description will
have the stipulation that they must become a Registered Sanitarian within 12 months of being
hired. The Regional Registered Sanitarian will sign off and train the Sanitarian -in- Training. Ms.
Martin made the motion and was seconded by Dr. Erickson to hire a Registered Sanitarian or a
Sanitarian -in- Training.
Dr. Erickson suggested we get the bids within the next two weeks, and then we will set the next
board meeting. Everyone will need to check for the emails about the meetings. The "regular"
board meetings will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
Dr. Erickson made the motion and was seconded by Mr. Strathern at 7:06 P.M. for the meeting
to be adjourned.
Respectfull submi ed
By: Cheryl D. Johnso
Approval motion made by Mr. Bill Strathern and seconded by Ms. Kristi Martin at the September 6,
2012 meeting.
Board of health minutes of regular meeting 2012 -06 -26
