Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Paul Denney to bring Nancy Anderson
back to the meeting. Motion carried 6 -0.
C. 134 North Main Street — Jamey Scott, business owner presented the petition. Ms.
Scott stated she will be placing a small vinyl sign on the door. Motion was made by
Britin Bostick, seconded by Nancy Anderson to approve the COA. Motion carried 7 -0.
D. 926 South Church Street — James McCleskey, home owner presented the petition.
Mr. McCleskey stated he wants to replace the existing roof with a 30 year shingle. The
30 year shingle does not come in the white color that he currently has on his roof,
therefore he is requesting a color change. Ben Vaughan asked is this an architectural
raised shingle compared to the existing roof which is a three tab shingle. Mr. McCleskey
stated yes this is a raised architectural shingle. Motion was made by Paul Denney,
seconded by Ben Vaughan to approve the COA. Motion carried 7 -0.
4. Discussion of and possible action on modifying the Design Guidelines to permit a flora
polymer paint coated aluminum clad wood window as an option for window replacement
in the Historic District.
Paul Denney lead discussion stating this is driven by the possibility of replacing the store
front windows on the City Hall building. Most of the windows face a west sun load and
keeping the new age paint which lacks lead will be a real problem. Mr. Denney further
stated he has invited two companies that can make a presentation regarding window
replacement. He contacted the Marvin window company and the Weather Shield
Company. Because of the issues with the vinyl clad window deteriorating after continued
direct sun exposure, we should consider allowing the aluminum clad wood window as an
option. Chairman Starrett asked if Mr. Denney had been contracted by the City of Paris
to do the work on City Hall and if so, will this come back to the commission for approval.
Mr. Denney stated yes he would be bringing this item back at some point. Chairman
Starrett further stated since we do not have any photos to review shouldn't we wait to
approve the window. Mr. Denney asked do we want to invite several window
companies to make a presentation to the commission prior to approval. The
Commissioners determined this item will need to come back at the March meeting and
include a presentation from several window companies prior to approving a window
design. No action taken.
5. Discussion of and possible action on approving a standard shop built all wood painted
window as presented by Glen Wark of Glen Wark Construction for the Historic District.
Glen Wark stated that he will be replacing the majority of the windows at the building
located directly behind the CVS Pharmacy. Paul Denney had requested that Mr. Wark
bring in a sample of the window for possible commission review and approval as a
standard historic wood window to be used in the Historic District. Mr. Wark went over
the wood window design for the commission. Chairman Starrett stated that all window
replacements will have to come to the commission for approval. Motion was made Paul
Denney, seconded by David Stewart to approve the window design. Motion carried 7 -0.
