MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13, 2012 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman at 12:00 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />David Stewart <br />Nancy Anderson <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Britin Bostick <br />C. Also present Jeanna Scott, Historic Preservation Officer; Robert Talley, Code <br />Enforcement Supervisor; and John Godwin, City Manager. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (May 9, 2012; May 17, 2012; May 23, <br />2012) <br />Motion was made by Douglas Cox, seconded by Nancy Anderson to approve the meeting <br />minutes for May 9, 2012; May 17, 2012; and May 23, 2012. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 137 South Main Street— We Reit, LLC — No one available to represent the petition. <br />No action taken. <br />B. 15 East Plaza — Paris Optical — Dr. Colten Wicks, business owner presented the <br />petition. Dr. Wicks stated they want to replace the canvas awning because it has <br />become very faded. The proposed awning will be a black canvas installed over the <br />existing barrel frame. Motion was made by Paul Denney, seconded by Douglas Cox <br />to approve the COA. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />C. 2 Clarksville Street — Sky Sign — Jeanna Scott, Historic Preservation Officer presented <br />the petition. Ms. Scott stated Main Street, PDA and the Chamber of Commerce held <br />a contest to come up with a design for the sky sign located at 2 Clarksville Street. <br />The graphic that won is enclosed; Main Street, PDA and the Chamber will be funding <br />this project as a group effort. Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by <br />
