MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING
CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MONDAY, JULY 25, 2011
4:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Paul Denney,
Vice - Chairman at 4:03 p.m.
A. The following members were present:
Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman
Douglas Cox
Ben Vaughan
Matt Coyle
Nancy Anderson
David Stewart
B. The following members were absent:
Arvin. Starrett, Chairman
C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, Historic Preservation Officer; Cheri Bedford,
Main Street Manager; and Matt Frierson, Council member.
2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (June 8, 2011)
Motion was made by Matt Coyle, seconded by Ben Vaughan to approve the June 8, 2011
meeting minutes. Motion carried 6 -0.
3. Consideration of'and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness:
A. 7 East Plaza — Randy Radar — Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager represented
the petition. Ms. Bedford stated that Randy Radar does not like the way the
previously approved windows look. Mr. Radar went to Taylor glass with the
specifications and they came up with a window that would fit the opening better.
The window will be a non - operable vinyl window with a mullion placed on the
window which will be custom made for the opening. Motion was made by Nancy
Anderson, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve the motion. Paul Denney stated he
prefers the window that was previously approved to the solid non offset window.
Ben Vaughan stated he prefers to see a wood window that would be similar
to the original historical windows of the era to a solid non - operable window.
Jeanna Scott asked why this window is not approvable. Paul Denney stated it is
not a true offset window it is of one plane and when you step back it wouldn't
look like what was once there. Matt Coyle asked is there any ideas on how to
even out the windows in there now. We don't want to be cost prohibited for
windows made for this building; we don't want to put the brakes on this project,
