MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2010 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman (arrived late 12:06) <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Jerry Raper <br />Matt Coyle <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, City Staff. <br />2. Approval o f minutes , from previous minutes. (November 23, 2009; December 9, 2009; <br />December 11, 2009) <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Matt Cole to approve the minutes for <br />the November 23, 2009; December 9, 2009; and December 11, 2009 meetings. Motion <br />carried 6 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: <br />A. 2 Clarksville Street (Sky Sign) — Wyatt Bowden presented the petition. Mr. Bowden <br />stated they want to utilize the sign by placing seasonal or monthly messages on it. <br />All signage would be temporary and each new sign would come before the <br />commission. Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve <br />the COA. Motion carried 6 -0. <br />B. 1171x` Street S.E. — Dorothy with Scott's Custom Signs presented the petition. Arvin <br />Starrett asked how wide the awning is because the sign appears to be longer than the <br />canopy is wide. Dorothy was not sure of the width of the canopy. Paul Denney <br />stated canopy is at least six feet wide; however, the sign cannot extend out past the <br />front edge of the canopy. Chairman Starrett stated the door looks to be frosted. <br />Dorothy stated Alex with Scott's signs said only the address and phone number will <br />be placed on the door. Dorothy further stated she is not aware of any frosting to be <br />
