MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />MONDAY, JUNE 28, 2010 <br />4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, Chairman at <br />4:00 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman <br />Jerry Raper <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Matt Coyle <br />C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, City Staff, Cheri Bedford, Main Street Coordinator; and <br />Robert Talley, Code Enforcement Supervisor. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous minutes. (June 9, 2010) <br />Motion was made by Jerry Raper, seconded by Douglas Cox to approve the minutes for the June 9, <br />2010 meeting. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 965 1" Street S. W. — Bail One — Alex Pickering, Scott's Custom Signs presented the <br />petition. Ms. Pickering stated this building is placed on the lot sideways which gives a <br />smaller front fagade area. The end of the building faces the street and the owner wanted a <br />large sign the phone number can be seen from the jail. Commissioners requested additional <br />information is contained within a site plan, showing lot size and dimensions and building <br />configuration. Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Paul Denney to table this <br />item. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />4. Consideration of and action on the following Fagade Grants: <br />Motion was made by Douglas Cox, seconded by Jerry Raper to recuse Ben Vaughan. Motion <br />carried 4 -0. <br />A. 543 Church Street — Patricia Shelton — Motion was made by Jerry Raper, seconded by <br />Douglas Cox to approve the fagade grant. <br />Motion was made by Paul Denney, seconded by Jerry Raper to bring Ben Vaughan back to the <br />meeting. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />
