MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 8 2010 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />I. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, <br />Chairman at 12:01 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Arvin Starrett, Chairman <br />Douglas Cox <br />Ben Vaughan <br />Paul Denney, Vice- Chainnan <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />Susan Scholz, Secretary <br />Matt Coyle <br />C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, City Staff; Zachary Branch, Ex- Officio; Cheri <br />Bedford, Main Street Coordinator; and Rhonda Rogers, City Council Member. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous minutes. (November 22, 2010) <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Paul Denney to approve the minutes for <br />the November 22, 2010. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: <br />A. 110 Clarksville — Chic Hair Studio — Brooke Hayes presented the petition. Ms. <br />Hayes stated they want to place a vinyl sign on the door. Motion was made by <br />Ben Vaughan, seconded by Paul Denney to approve the COA. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />Motion was made by Paul Denney, seconded by Douglas Cox to recuse Ben <br />Vaughan. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />B. 801 Church Street — Ben Vaughan — Kay Burkhart property owner presented the <br />petition. Mrs. Burkhart stated porch is in much need of repair. They are <br />proposing to remove the brick columns which have been added and replace with <br />wood columns typical to an arts and crafts style home. Ms. Burkhart further <br />stated they will be replacing a screened in front porch area that was original, they <br />want to fence in the ac unit to make it look better. The screened porch will be only <br />in the indention area near the front bedroom. Motion was made by Jerry Raper, <br />seconded by Douglas Cox to approve the COA as presented. <br />
