4. Discussion and possible action on the airport security gate.
Jerry Richey, Airport Manager stated we need to review the policy on the security gate.
Once we close the gate going back to the card system is going to be hard, people lose
them, then it takes up to two weeks to get them programmed. Mr. Richey further stated it
would be better to go to a pin number system and do away with the card system. Vic
Ressler asked would this be a common code or custom to the user. Mr. Richey explained
it would be better to be a common code. Ray Ball asked on the law enforcement side do
you need to know who comes and goes. Jerry Richey stated no we really wouldn't we
have cameras that log that information. Steve Gilbert asked if you could program the
cards yourself would that help with the process. Jerry Richey stated defiantly I could
immediately issue the cards; however, the key pin would be cheaper and quicker to do.
Motion was made by Vic Ressler, seconded by Fred Williams to go back to a key pad
system at the security gate. Motion carried 7 -0.
S. Report, discussion and possible action on the findings of the subcommittee regarding an
open house /fly -in at the airport.
Ray Ball made report to board members. Mr. Ball stated as I stated in the last meeting we
are looking at April and possibly October/November depending on the completion of the
runway project. As of right now we will have to wait until March and at that time we
should have a good idea of how the project is going with a possible completion date. We
have a commitment from budget for funds from PEDC and the City of Paris. Mr. Ball
further stated he wanted to get Jack Ashmore as a past member because he has a lot of
experience with this kind of event.
6 Report from Jerry Richey, Airport Manager.
A. Recent Runway light issue.
Papi lights are suppose to be thru by December 14th. The same people are doing
the Papi lights that did the runway lights, they are a little slow but they have done a
good job.
B. Stripping of taxiway into hangars.
Will check on stripping of taxiway for phase II. Shawn Napier will check into the
city doing the stripping.
7. Request for future agenda items. No December meeting. Subcommittee report, Airport
Director and Airport Manager report.
