4. Report, discussion and possible action on the findings of the sub - committee regarding an <br />open house /fly -in at the airport. <br />Ray Ball updated board members regarding the sub - committee meeting held on May 11 th <br />Mr. Napier stated the following individuals were present at the sub - committee meeting; <br />Ray Ball, Jeanna Scott, Jack Ashmore, Shannon Barrentine, Jerry Richey, and Brandy. <br />Mr. Ball further stated they did a preliminary search of the calendar and came up with <br />September 22'a and 29th as the two possible dates, both fall on a Saturday. The sub- <br />committee discussed entertainment possibilities that could include; airplane rides on a B 17 <br />or B25; the B25 rides could cost from $450 to $500 per ride, plus tour rates. Billy <br />Copeland stated we need to investigate what it will cost to get them here. Mr. Copeland <br />later suggested looking at the Devil Dogs as an alternative. The sub - committee also <br />discussed contacting a DC3, the Bird Dog Flyers, the remote control people, an acrobatic <br />pilot, sky divers, a ride simulator, EAA, and a T -28. The sub - committee discussed parking <br />and utilizing the Trolley to transport people across the runway area. Parking would be <br />free, also discussed trying to get an organization to oversee the parking. The subcommittee <br />discussed handing out tickets to individuals attending the fly -in which would enter them in <br />an hourly drawing for door prizes. Mr. Ball stated we could offer sponsor placement on <br />advertisement banners & t -shirts etc. with different levels of sponsorship; sponsors could <br />include companies like Wal -Mart, Kimberly Clark, and Campbell Soup. Mr. Ball further <br />stated he recommends getting the date approved today; then the sub - committee will come <br />back to the board with more information and direction regarding entertainment, parking, <br />gifts etc. Billy Copeland stated prior to finalizing a date we need to check the calendar at <br />"Fun Places to Fly for Texas" to ensure there are no conflicts with these dates? <br />Motion was made by Vic Ressler, seconded by Fred Williams to approve September 22 or <br />September 29 as possible dates for the Fly -In. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />Motion was made by Vic Ressler, seconded by Fred Williams to recommend the Fly -In be <br />held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />5. Request for future agenda items. Sub - committee report on fly -in. <br />6.
