MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BUILDING AND STANDARDS COMMISSION <br />MONDAY, AUGUST 20, 2012 <br />4:00 P.M. <br />1. Don Wilson called the Building and Standards Commission Meeting to order at 4:00 <br />P.M. <br />Roll was called. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Johnny Norris <br />Wendell Moore <br />Don Wilson <br />Ryan Lassiter <br />Chris Brown <br />B. Staff present: <br />Robert Talley <br />Nicki Brown <br />John Lestock <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (July 30, 2012) <br />Motion was made by Johnny Norris and seconded by Chris Brown to approve the <br />minutes for the July 30, 2012 meeting. <br />Motion carried unanimously. 5 -0 <br />3. Public Hearing to consider presentations by City of Paris Code Inspectors and <br />owner(s) and /or lien holder(s) of the below properties who have been given notice of <br />a violation of Article III of Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, <br />Paris, Texas, entitled "Substandard and Dangerous Buildings and Structures ": <br />Request was made by Robert Talley to move to item 3 (G), 327 E. Washington; Lot 15, City <br />Block 146 <br />G. 327 E. Washington, Lot 15, City Block 146 <br />Owner: Jan O'Brien Dyke, 731 SE 3rd Paris, TX 75460 <br />Present: Jan O'Brien Dyke and Michael Johnson (renter) <br />Mr. Talley stated that the property at 327 E. Washington has holes in the roof, <br />deterioration of shingles, rotting wood, several dogs are being housed in the <br />property, the roof is buckling, the window seals are pushing out and several <br />windows are broken. The property owner tried to tarp the roof but the tarp is <br />ripping. <br />Jan O'Brien Dyke and Michael Johnson spoke to the council and explained that <br />the neighbors have broken the windows and the police have been notified. <br />
