Michael stated that a tree fell on the roof and caused damage and that they are <br />willing to do the repairs that need to be done to repair the property. <br />Don Wilson stated that the property has had no repairs for the last year and a half. <br />He asked if Mrs. Dyke and Mr. Johnson knew how much it would cost to repair <br />the property. Mr. Johnson stated that he talked to City Hall about a permit to start <br />repairs. Johnny Norris asked if the only occupants of the house were the dogs <br />and Mr. Johnson stated they have two dogs and they are the only occupants at this <br />time. Mr. Wilson and Mr. Moore explained that the property owners are looking <br />at 5 -6 thousand dollars in repairs. Johnny Norris asked Mrs. Dyke and Mr. <br />Johnson what they could accomplish in the next 60 -90 days. Mr. Johnson stated <br />that they could have the roof and windows fixed. Mr. Wilson explained what <br />happens if no progress is made in the next 60 days. <br />Robert Talley's recommendation: Repair property within 60 days if not the City <br />has the right to bring the property back to the Building and Standards Meeting. <br />Motion was made by Johnny Norris, seconded by Wendell Moore to allow <br />Mrs. Dyke 60 days to repair the property, if not the property will be brought <br />back to the Building and Standard Commission. Merritt <br />Robert Talley showed the Commission that the property is unsecure, windows <br />broken, doors open, ceiling gone and you can see the rafter, house is sinking, <br />inside wall is cracked, and the foundation is buckled. Mr. Merritt agrees the <br />structure on the Maple side of the property needs to be torn down. He has started <br />the search of prices to have it torn down verses him tearing the structure down. He <br />is in a financial bind and asked for 90 days. <br />Robert Talley's recommendation: 90 days to demolish if not the City has the right <br />to demolish and apply a $1000 per day civil penalty. <br />Motion was made by Ryan Lassiter, seconded by Chris Brown to follow <br />Robert Talley's recommendation for the property owner to demolish the <br />property in 90 days, if not the City has the right to demolish and apply a <br />$1000 per day civil penalty to the property.
