<br />PEDC Minutes <br />May 17, 2006 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />The board discussed helping TxDOT with the construction of a deceleration lane <br />in front of the Campbell Soup Plant. This is a dangerous intersection and this <br />lane will help keep local residents safe. The project will cost a total of $160,000, <br />the PEDC agreed to help our local industry by contributing $50,000 to the project. <br />The board agreed that the community should be working together in assisting <br />local industries in any way we can. Motion passed with an abstention by Mike <br />Dunn. <br /> <br />The director's report was given by Gary Vest. June 23rd NETMOB will be hosting <br />a transportation summit in Commerce; Texas, the PEDC will help sponsor the <br />event with $750. The PEDC staff attended the TEDC Spring meeting in Frisco last <br />month. The main theme of the entire meeting was how to take care of existing <br />industries. With globalization occurring in every industry area it is vital to take <br />care of the industries that communities are fortunate to have. The Kimberly <br />Clark tax abatement will be coming up to the city council. The PEDe just sent off <br />a large binder for the state project "Blossom". NETEA meet in Sulphur Springs <br />on the 16th. The NETEA group agreed to get a list of industries in the Oklahoma <br />City and the Houston areas and start a mail and calling campaign to advertise <br />our area.
