PEDC Minutes
May 17, 2006
Page 2

The board discussed helping TxDOT with the construction of a deceleration lane
in front of the Campbell Soup Plant. This is a dangerous intersection and this
lane will help keep local residents safe. The project will cost a total of $160,000,
the PEDC agreed to help our local industry by contributing $50,000 to the project.
The board agreed that the community should be working together in assisting
local industries in any way we can. Motion passed with an abstention by Mike
Dunn.

The director's report was given by Gary Vest. June 23rd NETMOB will be hosting
a transportation summit in Commerce; Texas, the PEDC will help sponsor the
event with $750. The PEDC staff attended the TEDC Spring meeting in Frisco last
month. The main theme of the entire meeting was how to take care of existing
industries. With globalization occurring in every industry area it is vital to take
care of the industries that communities are fortunate to have. The Kimberly
Clark tax abatement will be coming up to the city council. The PEDe just sent off
a large binder for the state project "Blossom". NETEA meet in Sulphur Springs
on the 16th. The NETEA group agreed to get a list of industries in the Oklahoma
City and the Houston areas and start a mail and calling campaign to advertise
our area. Finally Gary Vest discussed the closing of Wall Concrete Pipe.

There was no chairman's report given.

With no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 4:33
p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

fb Jtar/JLIJ

Chad Madding
Assistant Director
