PEDe Minutes
August 31,2006
Page 2

Nonnent asked that a committee made up of 2 PEDC members and 2
Chamber Executive Board members be appointed to research other
Chambers and compile the information for further review. Mr. Nonnent
asked Rodney Bass and Renee Harvey from the Chamber board; John
Wright and Sims Norment from the PEDC as well as Richard Manning from
the City of Paris. John Wright asked if a survey could be mailed out to other
Chambers in surrounding communities to get the answers that we are
looking for. Brady Fisher reported that the Chamber board needed to
remember that a split position would affect the budget considerably.

Sims Norment reported that he would feel more comfortable with the
PEDe hiring legal council to review the employment contract of Mr. Vest
and the policy and procedures manual from the Chamber to see if Mr. Vest
was entitled to a severance package. John Wright asked if the PEDC had
legal council and Sims Norment advised that Phil Smith has worked on
several PEDC issues in the past. Rodney Bass made a motion that Phil Smith
be retained to review the employment contract as well as the policy and
procedures manual and advise the board if a severance package is owed to
Mr. Vest. The motion passed on a seconded by Dick Severson.

With no further business to come before the board, the meeting was
adjourned at 5:00.
