Planning and Zoning Meeting
June 4, 2002
Page 4
There was no opposition, the public hearing was declared closed.
7. Consideration of and action on the petition of Leann Sartor for a
change in zoning from a General Retail District (GR) to a General
Retail District (GR) With Specific Use Permit (3) Auto Laundry, Lot 21,
City Block 249, being number 2926 Lamar Avenue.
Motion was made to approve by Curtis Fendley and seconded by
Marshall Kent. Motion carried by a vote of 7 ayes and 0 nays.
8. Public Hearing to consider the petition of Earl Posey for a change in
zoning from a One - Family Dwelling No. 2 (SF -2) District to a Two -
Family Dwelling (2F) District, Lots 2 & 3, City Block 300, being the 500
Block 24th NW.
The public hearing was declared open.
Tommy Posey spoke in favor of the petition stating that he and his
brother would like to build one (1) duplex on these lots.
Mr. Bill Dalton spoke in opposition to the request and presented a
petition against the change. Mr. Dalton thinks a duplex built there
would increase traffic and decrease his property value. He stated that
the street is narrow and would increase traffic hazards.
Perry Hanley was opposed to the petition because of increased traffic.
He would like to see the area remain as it is.
Laura McIntire spoke in opposition stating that once the 4 1/2 acres are
zoned, there could be many more duplexes built there.
There was no further opposition, the public hearing was declared
closed.
