Planning and Zoning Meeting <br />March 1, 2004 <br />Page 3 <br />Delora Redus, has lived at 34" Street SW for about 50 years and they <br />have been trying to get desirable things in the area. West Paris is low <br />on crime and it is a quiet neighborhood. There are a lot more <br />businesses that are desirable could go in the area. Ms. Redus said she <br />just sold an acre lot Bonham Street last year and she would not have <br />dared to sell it for a truck stop. <br />Melissa Huey, 107 Pare Ouest, spoke in opposition to the petition <br />stating that they have worked a long time to make sure that their <br />neighborhood is safe. Ms. Huey expressed concern about <br />pollution— environment and lights. Ms. Huey has a 5 year old son that <br />she is raising as a single parent— concerned about his safety. <br />Chris Whitaker, 2415 Wildwood Lane, home builder in Paris and the <br />Par Ouest Subdivision spoke in opposition to the petition stating that <br />he and Archie Hood have been in a partnership position with the bank <br />in Honey Grove trying to stimulate home buying in the Pare Ouest <br />Subdivision. There were certain stigmas attached to the subdivision to <br />start with because of the restrictive nature at the outset and purpose <br />that was trying to be achieved in Pare Ouest. Mr. Whitaker stated that <br />in his opinion — property values in Pare Ouest would decline. <br />3. Consideration of and action on the petition of Cindy Gates for a change <br />in zoning from an Agricultural District (A) to a Commercial District <br />(C), With Specific Use Permit (49) Auto Fuel Sales, Lot 3, City Block <br />328, being the 3800 Block of SW Loop 286. <br />Motion was made to deny the petition by Russell McCain and seconded <br />by Bobby Myers. Motion carried by a vote of 6 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Motion was made by Russell McCain seconded by Bobby Myers to <br />excuse Louis Yates. Motion carried by a vote of 5 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
