Airport Advisory Board
May 21, 2002
Page 2
airplanes.
V. Self Service Fuel System:
The self service fuel system was discussed. Mr. Haynes advised that he
had checked with TxDot Aviation and the self service fuel system is not
an eligible grant item. A motion was made by J.W. Ashmore and
seconded by Rod Kosterman to present to the City Council a
recommendation to allow J.R. Aviation to pay for and install a self
service credit card fuel system for AV gas. J.R. Aviation would then
suspend the monthly payment of AV gas fuel to the City until such time
as the cost of the self service is paid off. This estimated cost of the self
service fuel system is $19,295.95. The motion passed unanimously.
VI. Status of TxDot Aviation Approval of a Relocation of the Helicopter
Landing Spot:
Mr. Haynes reported that he thinks approval is forthcoming but an
additional document needs to be sent to TxDot.
VII. Status of the Recommendation to City Council of an Access Road on
Northeast Part of Cox Field:
Mr. Haynes reported that a gate is at the northeast corner and an old
survey has been found that shows that our property joins Sylvan Road,
therefore we have access to Sylvan Road.
VIII. Discussion of Proper Identification and Recognition of Airport
Namesake, Charles Mac Cox:
This item stayed on the table as Mr. Ashmore has not been able to locate
a picture of Mr. Cox.
IX. Presentation of Proposed Cox Field brochure to Board:
A proposed Cox Field Brochure was presented to the Board for review
by Mr. Haynes. After much discussion, a few changes were made to the
original draft. It was suggested that we take it to the Paris Economic
Development Corporation for their review and to see if they would help
pay for it as we see this brochure as an economic marketing tool.
