MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />107 E. KAUFMAN STREET <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />MONDAY, MAY11, 2009 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Board of Adjustment meeting was called to order by Chairman Terry Christian at <br />12:00 p.m. <br />B. The following members were present: <br />Terry Christian, Chairman <br />Chester Martindale <br />Kyle McCarley <br />Rick Hundley <br />C. The following members were absent: <br />David Glass <br />C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, Administrative Assistant. . <br />2. Approval of minutes f rom previous meetings. Motion to approve the minutes of the April 7, <br />2009, meeting was made by Chester Martindale, seconded by Kyle McCarley. Motion <br />carried 4 -0. <br />3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of the Girl Scouts to grant a <br />variance of Section 28 -23(1) of the Sign Ordinance which provides that "the total area per <br />face of an attached sign shall not exceed one (1) square foot of face area per f °ont foot of <br />leased or occupied fascia length, " to allow 1.48 square foot offace area per front foot of <br />occupied fascia length, which is a. 48 square foot per front foot variance, on Lot 1, Block <br />A, Petco Plaza Addition, being number 3920 Lamar Avenue (variance to apply to the suite <br />occupied by Girl Scouts only). <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />A. The following individuals spoke in favor of the petition. <br />Georgia Welks, 548 CR 44605, Blossom, TX, representing Girl Scouts, spoke <br />asking for the sign to help with visibility. <br />Ray Beck, Paradise Signs, representing sign company and Girl Scouts, Mr. Beck <br />stated the property sits back 600 feet from the street. This makes is difficult to see <br />the sign and it is a safety issue because there is only one turn. They are asking for <br />
