MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />THURSDAY, JANUARY 5, 2017 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />The Board of Adjustment meeting was called to order by David Hamilton, Chairman at <br />12: 00 p. m. <br />A. The following members were present: David Hamilton, Marilyn Smith, Louise <br />Hagood and Jerry Haning <br />B. The following members were absent: Deanna Manning <br />C. Also present was Carla Easton, City Engineer; Ashley Fendley, City Staff; <br />Stephanie Harris, City Attorney; Sue Lancaster, City Council. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (December 1 S, 2016) <br />Motion was made by Louise Hagood, seconded by Marilyn Smith to approve minutes for <br />the December 15, 2016 meeting, with corrections. Motion carried 4 -0. <br />3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of Michael and Kenda Pickering on <br />Lot 1, Block A, of the MK Properties Addition CB 286 being located at the corner of E. Price and <br />27`h Street N.E. <br />A. Section 9 -501 (2) of the Zoning Ordinance which provides that "The minimum frontage <br />setback for a commercial development in a General Retail District (GR) is 20 feet. " The <br />applicant is asking for a 13 foot setback, which is a 7 foot variance. <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />Carla Easton, City Engineer reviewed the variance request with the board members. <br />A. One individual spoke in favor of the petition. <br />Michael Pickering, Paris, Texas, spoke in favor of the petition. Mr. Pickering stated <br />he is requesting the 7 foot variance due to an existing sewer line on the east side of <br />the proposed building site. Mr. Pickering stated that this shift in the building would <br />not create any issues at the corner of E. Price and 27" Street N.E. Mr. Pickering <br />further stated he hopes the board will approve this variance so that he can move <br />forward with his development. <br />
