MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br />February 27, 2017 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met for a regular session at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, <br />February 27, 2017, at the City Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas. <br />Present: Mayor: A.J. Hashmi <br />Council Members: Billie Lancaster; Aaron Jenkins; Billy Trenado; <br />Steve Clifford; and Cleonne Drake <br />City Staff: John Godwin, City Manager; Stephanie Harris, City <br />Attorney; Janice Ellis, City Clerk; Gene Anderson, <br />Finance Director; Carla Easton, City Engineer; <br />Larry Wright, Fire Chief; Bob Hundley Police <br />Chief; Kent Klinkerman, EMS Director; Doug <br />Harris, Utilities Director; Jerry McDaniel, Public <br />Works Director; Clyde Crews, Fire Marshal; <br />Priscilla McAnally, Library Director; and Alan <br />Efrussy, Planning Director <br />Absent: Council Member: Matt Frierson <br />Opening Agenda <br />1. Call meeting to order. <br />Mayor Hashmi called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />2. Invocation. <br />Chaplain Bob Seal gave the invocation. <br />3. Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Council Member Lancaster led the pledge. <br />4. Citizens' Forum. <br />Bill Strathern, 4905 Trails End, Lamar County Republican Chair — he commended the <br />City Council in their efforts for improving PEDC. Mr. Strathern spoke in support of opening <br />membership to Lamar County residents, citing this would broaden their base of the selection <br />process. He reminded Council that the primary function of PEDC was to create new jobs and <br />retain the current jobs. Mr. Strathern explained to Council they had a fiduciary and moral <br />obligation to the citizens. <br />
