cap and chain when approval is given to remove hose by the fire code <br />official." <br />Section 901.6, Inspection, testing and maintenance, shall be amended by <br />adding Section 901.6.3, False Alarms and Nuisance Alarms, to read as follows:. <br />"901.6.3 False Alarms and Nuisance Alarms. False alarms and <br />nuisance alarms shall not be given, signaled or transmitted or caused or <br />permitted to be given, signaled or transmitted in any manner." <br />Section 901.7, Systems out of service, shall be amended to read as follows: <br />"901.7 Systems Out of Service. Where a required fire protection <br />system is out of service or in the event of an excessive number of activations, <br />the fire department and the fire code official shall be notified immediately <br />and, where required by the fire code official, the building shall either be <br />evacuated or an approved fire watch shall be provided for all occupants left <br />unprotected by the shut down until the fire protection system has been <br />returned to service. <br />"Where utilized, fire watches shall be provided with not less than one <br />approved means for notification of the fire department and their only duty <br />shall be to perform constant patrols of the protected premises and to keep <br />watch for fires." <br />Section 901.8.2; Removal of existing occupant -use hose lines, shall be amended <br />to read as follows: <br />"901.8.2 Removal of Occupant -use Hose Lines. The fire code official <br />is authorized to permit the removal of occupant -use hose lines and hose <br />valves where all of the following conditions exist: <br />"1. The hose line(s) would not be utilized by trained personnel or the <br />fire department. <br />"2. If the occupant -use hose lines are removed, but the hose valves are <br />required to remain as per the fire code official, such shall be <br />compatible with local fire department fittings." <br />Section 903.1.1, Alternative protection, shall be amended to read as follows: <br />"903.1.1 Alternative Protection. Alternative automatic fire - <br />extinguishing systems complying with Section 904 shall be permitted in <br />addition to automatic sprinkler protection where recognized by the <br />applicable standard, or as approved by the fire code official." <br />24 <br />
