determine whether such buildings or structures can be rehabilitated and designated on the <br />National Register of Historic Places, as a recorded Texas Historic Landmark, or as historic <br />property as designated by the City Council of the City of Paris. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Emmite, and seconded by Commissioner Hider that the <br />following houses be recommended to the Building and Standards commission for demolition <br />because they cannot be rehabilitated or designated on the National Register of Historic <br />Places, as a recorded Texas Historic Landmark, or as historic property as designated by the <br />City Council of the City of Paris: 1804 W Houston, 1501 W Campbell, 424 Graham, 40810th <br />NE, 60412th SE, and 40012 NE. <br />The Commissioners requested that item 623 6th SE be pulled from the list for further discussion <br />of the condition of the property in the next meeting. Motion carried 6 — 0. <br />7. Discussion of 205 E. Houston. COA # 2016 -57 denied at the December 14, 2017. Pictures <br />were presented to the commission with the fireplace installed in front door opening building by <br />Cheri Bedford. Carla Easton, City Engineer informed the commission that over the past few <br />months the building department has been working with Mr. Edwards on some building code <br />issues and all have been resolved and hadn 't forwarded any action on the COA violations, <br />however it was next on the list. She confirmed that Cheri Bedford was communicating with Mr. <br />Edwards. After reviewing pictures of the current building. Commissioner Dux stated the <br />purpose of the Historic Preservation commission was not intending to prevent people from <br />doing renovations to their property they would like to do, but its intent was to maintain the <br />historical integrity and appearance of the buildings in the district. Commissioner Dux made <br />some suggestions to Mr. Edwards with potential solutions that might be acceptable by the <br />Commission. Suggestions were to recess the fireplace opening even with the existing doors, <br />and replicate the design that was approved on the right and left side door openings. The other <br />suggestions were to leave the fireplaces as is and create doors to match the existing doors <br />without recessing the fireplace. <br />Cheri Bedford let the commission members know that Mr. Edwards was aware of the violation, <br />and wants to work on a solution, so he will present a new Certificate of Appropriateness at the <br />August 2017 meeting for consideration. No action was taken. <br />8. Discussion and Possible action on COA #2016 -29, incomplete painting of trim on house. Mrs. <br />McGlasson, 1028 Church Street- Code Enforcement officer is asking for a recommendation to <br />take action to pursue a violation. Chairman Dux gave a background of the house paint issue. <br />Minutes of the June 2016 minutes were presented to commission for review. The commission <br />had given Mrs. McGlasson 6 months to paint the trim of the house. She started the work, but to <br />date hasn't finished. Commissioner Alarid volunteered to get a crew to finish painting the trim <br />on the house. The Commission asked Cheri Bedford to contact her and work with <br />Commissioner Alarid to get the house trim painted. <br />9.
