<br />INTERLOCAL GOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR <br />DRUG ELIMINATION AND PREVENTION <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF PARIS AND <br />THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PARIS <br /> <br />STATE OF TEXAS <br /> <br />) <br />) <br />) <br /> <br />KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: <br /> <br />COUNTY OF LAMAR <br /> <br />THAT, the CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, a municipal corporation, acting by and <br /> <br />through its City Manager, Michael E. Malone, duly authorized, hereinafter called CITY, and the <br /> <br />HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, a public housing authority, acting <br /> <br />by and through its Chairman, Curtis Fendley, duly authorized, hereinafter referred to as PHA, do <br /> <br />hereby contract and agree as follows: <br /> <br />I. CITY covenants and agrees that it will travel to each public housing site owned by <br /> <br />the PHA six (6) days per week for each week of the contract period and pick up children who <br /> <br />reside in public housing, targeting children from ages thirteen (13) to eighteen (18) years old, and <br /> <br />transport them to the Police Athletic League for educational, recreational, or other constructive <br /> <br />activities in an attempt to remove them from the public housing sites and any crime and drug- <br /> <br />related activity that might occur there. To accomplish this, CITY agrees to provide round-trip <br /> <br />transportation from the public housing sites, along with all related costs, in the amount of four <br /> <br />thousand nine hundred sixty (4,960) miles over the contract period, CITY also agrees to provide <br /> <br />a part-time driver-recreation aide for six and one-quarter (6,25) hours per week at $7.00 per hour <br /> <br />for each week of the contract period, totaling three hundred twenty-five (325) hours. Hours of <br /> <br />pick-up and return of children are to be scheduled weekly as agreed between the Director of the <br /> <br />Police Athletic League, or designee, and the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />EXHIBiT A <br />
