RESOLUTION NO. 2000-036 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PARIS A WAIVER OF ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM THE JUVENILE ACCOUNT ABILITY INCENTIVE BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM; DESIGNATING LAMAR COUNTY AS THE RECIPIENT OF THE CITY'S SHARE OF SAID GRANT, WITH THE CITY OF PARIS PARTICIPATING IN THE JUVENILE CRIME ENFORCEMENT COALITION CREATED BY LAMAR COUNTY; APPROVING THE FORM OF THE AFORESAID GRANT WAIVER OF APPLICATION; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF SAID WAIVER; AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE JUVENILE CRIME ENFORCEMENT COALITION CREATED BY LAMAR COUNTY; AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE, WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, provides funding for the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant Program; and, WHEREAS, the City of Paris is eligible to apply for a direct grant of funds in the amount of $24,903.00, requiring a 10% cash match in the amount of $2,767.00; and, WHEREAS, the City of Paris has the option of waiving its eligibility to apply and to designate a neighboring city or county as the recipient of the allocated amount; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the City of Paris waive its eligibility to apply for said grant and designate Lamar County as the recipient of the allocated amount, with the City of Paris participating in the Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition created by Lamar County; and, WHEREAS, the form of the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant Waiver of Application, attached hereto as Exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the City Manager should be authorized to execute the same; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the waiver of the City of Paris's eligibility to apply for a Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant and designating Lamar County as the recipient of the allocated amount be and the same is hereby approved.
