MINUTES
AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
TUESDAY, JANUARY 30, 1990
COX FIELD TERMINAL
PARIS, TEXAS
1. The scheduled meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by
Chairperson Mrs. Greta Greb. The following members were present:
Greta Greb, Chairperson
J.B. Ritchey
Jim Bell
J.W. Harrison
Cliff Lee
ABSENT: Victor Abeles
J.W. Ashmore
Also in attendance: Dick Boots and Jim Collier.
2. The minutes of the previous meeting (November 28, 1989) were read
and approved.
3. The AWOS funding was discussed. No funds are available through
the FAA for AWOS funding. Campbell Soup and Kimberly Clark may
possibly donate $2,000 or $3,000 towards the project. It was
decided that the Board would attempt to find a way to solicit
funds from industries and the private sector to cover the cost of
the project. A letter will be written by Mrs. Greb to the FAA
requesting that we be moved up on the list for AWOS Funding. The
letter would say that if the City has 1/3 of the total funding
available, the City would request to be moved up on the list
since the FAA would not have to fund the entire project. The
Board recommended that the Airport Support Group be directly
involved in soliciting funds. All industries, whether they are
Airport Users or not, will be asked to take part in this
fundraising.
4. It was reported that the Master Plan Grant was being written by
the FAA this week and would be in the hands of the City Staff
within one week. As soon as the grant is signed by the City of
Paris and returned to the FAA, the consulting firm will begin
work on the project.
5. A survey of the hanger renters, which was requested by the Board
at the November meeting, was presented by Dick Boots. After
review of the survey, it was decided that the City of Paris would
apply through the FAA for a 20 year 5% interest loan of $100,000.
The total cost of constructing 6 closed hangers would be
approximately $114,000. The City would have to come up with the
$14,000. above the total grant allocation. The $100,000. loan
from FAA would not be available until September of 1990. Mr.
