MINUTES
AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1987
COX FIELD TERMINAL
PARIS, TEXAS
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by Chairman Bill Boothe.
The following members were present:
Bill Boothe, Chairman Joe Burress
Victor Abeles Greta Grebb
J.W. Ashmore, Secretary
The minutes of the October 27, 1987, meeting were approved as read.
Mr. Boots reported that there is no possibility of using TAC funds for
the overlay of the entrance circle and terminal parking area. These
areas are not considered revenue producing; under TAC regulations TAC
funds cannot be used for maintenance or repair.
Mr. Sadler and Mr. Pridemore sent an informal note with a bid on gate
opener with key pad, button opener on inside and housing for the amount
of $1500.00. Due to the informal nature of the pencil note and
a lack of details, it was moved, seconded and passed that Greta Grebb
check further into costs of an adequate gate system and invite
interested parties to submit bids at the January 26, 1988, meeting.
Mr. Boots will work with Ms. Grebb on securing proper bids.
Repair of main terminal: The cracking of the concrete walls and the
rusting of the metal walls are just a few of the readily apparent
defects in the current structure. It was moved, seconded and passed
that the advisory committee recommend to the City that the City of
Paris engineer inspect the building and meet with the committee in
January, 1988, so we can consider the long -range needs of repair and
maintenance on the terminal building. Mr. Boots was asked to make this
request to the City Engineer.
Review of annual Fire Department Inspection Report: (Copy Attached)
The letter reporting on the inspection shows compliance with the first
five items. On item A, the committee discussed the options for these
tanks. Mr. Burress suggested the tanks be filled with water to prevent
rust and make later movement disposal easier. To fill the tanks with
sand and /or concrete could later be a large expense for moving or other
wise disposing of the tanks. In addition, the filling of the unused
tanks with water would make them available for future use should they
be needed.
It was moved, seconded, and passed that the board recommend to the City
Council that should it be necessary to decommission these tanks, they
be filled with water rather than concrete or sand.
Annual Permit Renewal:
