The minutes for the Airport Advisory Board Budget workshop held January 31,
1983 were approved as mailed.
A discussion about the gravel road to the back hangars began after
Mr. Collier was asked if anything had been done concerning the oiling or
toping of the road. Mr. Collier replied Mr. Green, Acting City Manager,
stated it would be done next year out of the 83 -84 funds.
Mrs. Campbell pointed out that $1,302.62 remained in the Street and Alley
Repair 1982 -83 account for Cox Field and suggested this money be used for
the repair of the gravel road.
It was moved by Gene Sudduth and seconded by Bill Boothe that the City be
requested to spend current funds to oil the gravel road to the back hangars.
The motion passed 5 - 0.
4. Hangar leases: A sample of a hangar lease agreement given by Mr. Collier
to the board members at the budget workshop was discussed. The public present
at the meeting was given a copy to study.
It was moved by Bill Boothe and seconded by Gene Sudduth that a copy of Mr.
Collier's proposed hangar lease agreement be displayed in a conspicious
location at the airport and a copy be mailed to current hangar leasees and
that the matter of a written hangar lease agreement be discussed at the next
meeting. The motion passed 5 - 0.
Mr. Sudduth will bring, if available, a copy of an A.O.P.A., hangar lease
agreement to the next board meeting.
Mrs. Campbell asked Mr. Collier why the hangar waiting list, dated February
1, 1983 posted on the bulletin board at Cox Field did not contain the name
of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Mentzel. Mrs. Mentzel had told Mrs. Campbell she had been
on the waiting list for four years.
Mrs. Campbell asked Mr. Collier to see the hangar waiting list as it existed
prior to Feb. 1, 1983. Mr. Collier stated he no longer had a copy of this
list, but that Mr. T.K. Haynes, City Attorney had a copy.
Dr. Keller asked why his name did not appear on the February 1, 1983 list
since he had asked for a hangar in August when his hangar had been taken over
by Mr. Jimmy Wrenn?
Mrs. Campbell stated there is a need for a hangar waiting list application
and a system of posting names and date of request on the bulletin board. She
will draw up a hangar waiting list application to be presented at the next
meeting.
5. Discuss A.O.P.A. material: Mr. Sudduth and Mrs. Campbell suggested a
workshop he scheduled to draw up guidelines for the Airport Advisory Board
to follow in its work. These guidelines would then be sent to City Council
for approval.
New Business:
1. Hangar construction: This was the presentation by Port -a -Port at the
beginning of the meeting.
