Renee Harvey, 4125 Smallwood Road, Paris, Texas, spoke in favor of the petition, <br />Ms. Harvey states she is the Real Estate Broker for Eddy Thomas. Ms. Harvey <br />requested that in addition to the Plarined Development that is proposed that the <br />board would consider also allowing a Community Center, a Drapery Shop, a Florist <br />Shop, a Household Appliance Service and Repair, an Upholstery shop, a <br />Restaurant without any drive-in and or a Veterinary Clinic. Ms. Harvey further <br />stated that this is the fourth time they have been before the commission and she is in <br />support of the rezoning on behalf of Mr, Thomas, <br />Four individuals spoke in opposition. <br />Larry McDowell, 3420 W. Houston Street, Paris, Texas spoke in opposition of the <br />petition. Mr. McDowell stated lie is for maintaining a residential zoning, <br />Ricky Oliver, 3640 W. Houston Street, Paris, Texas spoke in opposition of the <br />petition. Mr. Oliver stated he has lived there thirty-nine years and to date they have <br />not been given any information on what the applicant wants to do there. He would <br />like the neighborhood to stay the way it is because they have no idea what they <br />would be opening their neighborhood up to, <br />Mary Eppers, 3715 W Houston, Paris, Texas spoke in opposition of the petition, <br />Ms. Eppers stated she is a widow and has lived there since 2003. Ms. Eppers further <br />stated she is happy where she lives and can walk through her neighborhood. Ms. <br />Eppers states, she knows her neighbors and that is where her husband wanted her to <br />live. Ms. Eppers further stated she would like to continue living there and does not <br />want to have to move, <br />David Zant, 3625 W flouston, Paris, exas spoke in opposition of the petition. Mr. <br />Zant stated lie has, to agree with the others in opposition. He states they have a nice <br />and quiet neighborhood. Mr. Zant stated some of the uses listed .are appealing but <br />others could be 24-hour businesses and that would not beneficial to their <br />neighborhood, <br />Public hearing was declared closed, <br />Comillissioner John Lee commented that he has to agree with tile citizens, in opposition of <br />the petition because he knows this to be a quiet neighborhood. Mr. Lee states he is torn <br />because he is very much for economic development. He states this is a broad rezoning <br />request and if he knew more of what was going there he could be for it. Mr. Lee votes <br />against the petition. <br />Commissioner Keith Flowers commented he is opposition for the same reason. <br />Commissioner Chad Lindsey asked if a business not on the list of potential uses came in <br />what would be the process, Alan Efrussy, Planning Manager answered that business would <br />have to come before the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />
