<br />Page 2 <br /> <br />together in their assigned areas of expertise to conduct case intake, investigations <br />and follow up activities with local prosecutors, probation/parole officers and rehab <br />counselors to help in the reduction of these crimes. <br /> <br />The Violent Crimes Against Women Unit will work together in the City of Paris <br />to help educate the citizenry with domestic violence reduction programs, more <br />vigorous prosecution of the offenders and making available the known resources <br />for both the victims and the offenders in an effort to break this cycle of violence. <br />With the police and battered women's representatives working together, we should <br />be able to reduce crimes of this type. <br /> <br />This project will use the Uniform Crime Report and data compiled by the Paris <br />Police Department Records Division and the statistics kept by Family Haven (976 <br />victims sheltered in 1996) to measure the impact and effectiveness of the Violent <br />Crimes Against Women Unit. <br /> <br />The goal of the Crimes Against Women Unit is to reduce total crimes against <br />women/domestic violence by ten percent (10%). Hopefully we will also reduce the <br />return visits by victims at the women's shelter by ten percent (10%). <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />
