Italianate <br />TALL, NARROW WINDOWS <br />SIDELIGHTS AND FAN LIGHT AT ENTRY <br />BRICK WALLS WITH MINIMAL PORCH <br />OVERHANG <br />104=19 <br />Z 101121111Y.1110 Moll <br />The Italianate, style began in England and <br />dominated residential architecture in the United <br />States from 1850 to 18,80. The style was <br />common in the Midwest and northeastern <br />seaboard. Characteristics iinclude: <br />• low-pitched roofs with wide overhanging <br />eaves supported by decorative brackets <br />• two or three stories high <br />• tall, narrow windows, arched at the top <br />with decorative window crowns <br />Colonial Revival was a popular style for domestic <br />buildings across the country during the first half of <br />the 20th century. The backbone, of Colonial <br />Revival is found in the Georgian andl Adam <br />styles. Characteristics include: <br />• front door with a pediment supported by <br />pilasters or extended to form a porch <br />• entry door with sidelights and a fan light <br />• symmetrical front facade with the entry <br />door in the middle <br />• constructed of brick with boxed roof/wall <br />intersection with minimal overhang <br />Design Standards for the City of Paris, Texas 86 <br />
