Page 2

violent crimes against women unit that we could significantly impact our
community by reducing the level of these types of crimes and preventing reo
occurrence of same.

5. If funded, how would the proposed project work with the community and with
other agencies toward impacting the problem stated above?

A licensed, full-time Paris Police Officer and a full-time employee of Family
Haven would work together to educate women in Paris, Texas, in ways to
prevent becoming victims of crime. Further, the team would work together to
investigate, prosecute; and provide shelter, counseling and information to
assist the crime victims. In order to accomplish these goals the violent
crimes against women unit would work with the local media, neighborhood
crime watch committees, hold training sessions and work with local agencies
to produce positive results.

6. What are the specific activities proposed that will address the problem stated
in A.1.? Please include information on target area, population, and number
of people served.

An office will be established with sufficient equipment to build a data base on
violent crimes against women. A police officer and Family Haven liaison
employee would work out of the office to initially begin a publicity campaign.
This campaign would inform and educate the citizens of Paris on the
formation of the task force and its purpose. Additionally crime prevention
education, review of all cases involving violent crimes against women would
be conducted. Any additional investigations would be completed and reports
filed. The victims of crime would be informed of the prosecution process.
Shelter and counseling would be offered and any other assistance rendered
as possible. The populationltarget area is the City of Paris which has 25,000
people,

7. Explain how the proposed project activities will address the problem stated
in question A.1.

It is our belief that a violent crimes against women task force could reduce the
amount of crimes in ,Paris by at least ten percent (10%). With an aggressive
publicity and crime prevention campaign, coupled ~h additional
investigative assistance and counseling we should see a corresponding
decrease in the amount of violent crimes against women.

8. List the measures that the project will use to determine the effectiveness of
the project and its impact on the stated problem,
